Long Day is Over

Feeling tired
By the fire
The long day is over

The wind is gone
Asleep at dawn
The embers burn on

With no reprise
The sun will rise
The long day is over

Sudafed, Isle 5

So it started last week with a sore throat. I thought, self.. you are getting sick. But the throat felt better and I figured I'd fought it off.

Then Saturday my head felt like it might explode, my eyes ran and watered, and I sneezed my good sense out. I thought oh boy, here it comes. And I was happy. Lets get the cold over with and move on to better things, like spring allergies.

And then it got a little better. And now I just have a sneezy stuffy head.So what is the deal? Am I sick? Am I going to get worse? Will I ever breathe again? Stay tuned, for the news at 11. (achhooooooooo)

He is Risen!

Happy Easter. What a glorious time of year. For those of the faith, it is a time of rebirth and renewal. For those who are not, spring is still a time for rebirth. Grass comes back, leaves sprout, flowers grow.. the earth comes back to life after a long winters nap.

Spring hasn't quite arrived up here in the great white North, but it will soon enough. And until then, it leaves me time to ponder some of life's great mysteries.

What is the connection between the resurrection, and a fluffy bunny bringing chocolate eggs? Although I guess that leads to the "what is the connection between Christ's birth and a man in a red suit?" question also. I have no answer for either.

What evil person created plastic basket grass? I mean.. for crying out loud. It shows up until Christmas. I refuse to buy it. I don't need it clogging up my vacuum cleaner and showing up at Labor Day.

Lost and Found

This is the best story I've heard all week. My luck NEVER works this way!

CROYDON, N.H. -- When Ken Dandeneau lost thousands of dollars he had taken from a safe deposit box in January, he and his wife figured they'd never see it again.

But when Ken Blanchard dug it out of a snowbank this month, he never considered keeping it.

Supporters Say Plant Unfairly Tied To Drugs

POSTED: 2:44 pm EST March 23, 2005

CONCORD, N.H. -- The New Hampshire House voted Wednesday to allow farmers to grow hemp.

Hemp is a close relative of marijuana but has a very low content of THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana.

Shake hands first, pupils urge sport's biggest rivals
By Douglas Belkin, Globe Staff | March 23, 2005

ACTON -- It took a group of fifth- and sixth-graders to push a radical idea: Why can't the most intense rivalry in Major League Baseball be put on hold, at least long enough for a handshake?

Their plan -- to get the Yankees and Red Sox to shake hands just before Fenway's Opening Day game on April 11 -- has been endorsed by the Boss himself, Yankees owner George Steinbrenner. Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig said he ''found it fascinating." And Red Sox manager Terry Francona said he liked the pupils' initiative.

But whether the schoolchildren from the Merriam School in Acton get their wish, which they have pushed with letters and a sophisticated PowerPoint presentation, remains squarely in the hands of the players.

A Spring Thing

I feel like we should call Guinness. Or the paper .. or .. or.. someone!

It's 49 degrees out today. I know that doesn't sound like much, but it's been a long cold winter and darn-it 49 is like a heat wave. I actually watched some snow melt during recess.

The bummer of it all.. is that it's going to snow again tomorrow. Better grease up the shovel.

So Long 8 legs

Update..

Spidey Friend has moved on.

I left my coffee next to my keyboard before I left.

I couldn't bear to look and see

RIP Spidey Friend

Spidey Mac

So its 7:10 am and already my day has got off to a crappy start. So I sat down, intent to post on the workings of a 10 year old and how if someone offered to take the same 10 year old and bring him back in a few years I'd ask how much they wanted for him.

And as I'm waiting for Blogger to launch, I notice something on my computer.

Self, I said.. what the hell is that??

Ooooh Laaa Laaa

Well.. my first post with Blogger. Is there anything worth posting about at this exact moment? No. My previous blog spot won't work with my Mac. Their loss as far as I'm concerned. I'll take my Granny Smith elsewhere.

Tommorow we are going to visit my SIL. She lives in our old stomping grounds now, so I wax nostalgic every time we head out that way. I'm not looking forward to tommorow however.

It's the annual St. Patty's day parade. They close the main road we have to travel across to get to her humble abode. Which not only entails a long round about way... it also jams up the city with people and floats and mahem.

Oh, and did I mention that my MIL invited herself over also? But I haven't seen my FIL in a while and I miss him, so it's all good. Think I'll make the DH drive, and bring my knitting. I heard it might snow.

Happy Spring.
