Wednesday it snowed, and yesterday we had gale force winds that blew all my yard furniture over, took down branches and knocked out the power. Tomorrow it's going to be sunny and 80 degrees. Welcome to spring in NH. In honor of the good weather, I give you..

For the Love of Bread
Wednesday is pasta day at my house. Sometimes we have something as simple as pasta with made from scratch marinara sauce (I learned to make my own and never went back to store bought).. or something as tasty as penne with tomatoes and feta.. linguine with scallops... it all depends on my mood. Lately I've been thinking that I should start my bread machine before school on Wednesdays so that we can have fresh bread with our pasta. I love fresh bread.

Three Things on a Thursday

Thing 1: I discovered I have Gustatory Rhinitis. Sounds scary eh? It's just an annoying runny nose that happens right after I eat hot or cold foods. It's kind of a non-allergy.. allergy that just develops, and now I'll likely have it forever and ever amen. More than anything it's embarrassing, but now that I expect it to happen each time, I can be prepared for it. I'm thinking of making some cotton hankies like men carry in their suit coats to put in my lunch box and purse. I'll have to go check out some fun fabrics.

Gather Around and I'll Tell You a Story.......
In April of 1991, as part of a Confirmation process at my church, I was required to head down to MA with a few other kids from my town and a ton of other kids from all over the place for a weekend long Teen Encounter. The idea was that we'd go, and listen to other teenagers talk about religion, and their experiences and it would help us decide if in fact we wanted to be confirmed or not. I can't say that I was looking forward to it one bit. It was from Friday night until Sunday evening which meant a whole weekend gone, and I was only going to know a few people. I am not a fan of large gatherings, even of people I know, so it was very hard for me, but I went anyhow.
Every year around Easter my brain pulls the memory of that weekend out of the vault and throws it around a bit. The weekend I went on, was April 11-13th, and it was the first teen encounter weekend after Easter.
