So I meant to come and blog about this Sunday. Then again on Monday, and then I was busy, and it seemed silly to blog about something so far away from when it happened. But I finally uploaded my photos onto my laptop today.. and I thought.. what the hell. So, here we go.
Sunday was one of those kind of days that just falls into place unexpectedly and leaves you feeling happy and content at the end of the day. The Boy said good morning to me after we woke up, and I said good morning back... and sound came out of my mouth! This was huge.. as I woke up Tuesday and had no voice. Typically when I lose my voice, it's for a day, day and a half tops. Never 4 full days. So I was a tad nervous, and also feeling quite lousy with the cold moving into my chest.. and it was very hard to work with a voice that would go no higher than a whisper.
The Boy and Mr. Man left to go run the radio net for a local road race at 7am. and Ms. Thang's friend picked her up at 8:30 for a day long rendezvous. By the time she left, I had gone for my walk(long version), showered and started laundry. Then I had a glorious day to myself. I caught up on some things I had let slide over the week while I felt so lousy.... I did some reading... I did some knitting (finished a baby sweater)... balanced the checkbooks... one by one I checked things off of my "to-do list". And it felt soooo good.
The boys came back right around 3pm.... and The Boy and I went out and ran 2 errands. I love that my kids are old enough, and responsible enough to leave home alone (Ms. Thang wasn't back yet). We got back... and I took to the kitchen. One of the last things on my to-do list was to bake some Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread. We love this at my house. I've been making it for a few years and the recipe makes 3 loaves and they freeze wonderfully. When I first found it I thought.. ewww..chocolate chips and pumpkin? But. OH.MY.GAWD. So very yummy. One loaf goes in the fridge, 2 go in the chest freezer. I have 2 more cans of pumpkin, and plan to make 3 more loaves and 9 mini loaves. Maybe in a few more weeks.
After I was finished with that.. we made dinner together. I love when my kitchen is warm with cooking, and full of smells that just waft through the air, blending together in the perfect marriage of sensory pleasure. Added to that mix was the Autumn Wreath Yankee Candle I had burning in my family room... putting a touch of apple and cinnamon and leaves and all other good fall scents into the mix. The kind of ending to a day that leaves you happy. Content. Filled.
