A happy accident.
Something that occurs when you least expect it.
Our car has been on the fritz for a while now. They wanted some ridiculous amount of $$ to fix it, and it wasn't worth it. We'd had that car a long time, it was long paid off and had served it's useful purpose.
We weren't in a position to be able to buy a new one however. So we kept driving it. And in the small recesses of my heart, I worried. I worried that something was going to happen to the boy on the way home from work. Or worse, when we all were in the car. Or even better, I'd be coming back from doing errands, and the wheel would choose that moment to snap off. And yet, you do what you have to do.
A few weeks ago the boy found out he was getting a raise. And I started looking. Not really thinking we would be able to afford much, but we needed to do something. Presidents weekend came and all the car sales, and I found something and printed it out. The next weekend when we knew what the raise would be..it snowed something awful. I figured that car was gone. We called yesterday, to find out that the caravan I found was in a storage facility, but they had one similar and would we be interested in seeing it?
The universe smiled on us. We bought a 2005 Dodge Caravan SXT with mega low miles for not much more than a brand new one would depreciate to after 5 years. If the sticker in the window is right, the prior owner only bought it last October brand new, so it's not even that old. SCORE! We love it already and the kids are besides themselves. Serendipity. A happy accident.
