In Which We Find A Few Letters ....

Dear L,
When I knit you the fluffy sweater 3 years ago before your birth, I never dreamed that it would become your "woobie". I was a newish knitter, and the patten was simple and the yarn was big and so were the needles. I loved when you used to wear it, and it warms my heart that you loved it so much that you drag that thing everywhere. While you were gone in Mexico with your mama, I crocheted you a poncho out of a similar "fluffy" yarn. Your daddy laughed and told me nothing would get you to stop dragging "that ratty sweater (huff!)"around, but that's not my intent. I want you to have something fluffy and soft to wear that would fit you. I can't have my favorite 3 year old walking around with a too small sweater on her. This is so you can still carry the other sweater, and have one to wear. I picked a color that will match your beautiful dark hair, and I can't wait for you to have it, so it will be in my kitchen while we are gone. I've left a note for your daddy to bring it home. I hope you enjoy it and I'll see you when we get back.
Love, B

Dear Lion Brand,
I crocheted your version of Martha Stewart's Coming Home Poncho for my favorite little girl. I left off the neck because I was worried that it wasn't going to fit her! I made the size 4 even though she is only a 3T.. and yet I didn't think it would fit over her head. So after a day of mulling it over, I threaded some waste yarn through, and cut a slit in the back. I've never had to cut apart anything I've created and it was scary. I am fine. I made some ties, did a nice tidy edge around the cut part, and it came out great. I think that your pattern has a few flaws, as I discovered with a quick Google search I wasn't the only one with this issue. Either way, it came out cute. Your splity Homespun yarn is a post for another day.

Dear Children,
We have somehow managed to make it through the summer and here we are getting ready to start the last week of our vacation. Mostly I'm impressed with how much you've both grown this summer (in maturity and height). However you are wearing me down with the nonsense. Stop pushing each other. Stop calling each other names. Knock of the bickering. I know there's only two of you... but for heavens' sake you don't have to annoy each other every minute of every day. I'm looking forward to our trip to the lake this week. Let's enjoy our last hurrah of the summer, eh?
love, your tired mother

Dear People Who Read My Blog,
I am OK. I have not been abducted by aliens. I am not being held hostage in a closet by my vacation weary children. I have not run away to an exotic island with fruity drinks. (though that sounds great!) I am up north enjoying my last week of vacation at the lake. I might be the craziest person on earth going away the week before school starts. But I don't care. We needed a trip. The Boy has worked hard all summer and needs a break before all the crazy teachers come back to pester him with "why doesn't my computer work?". We will be back next weekend. Don't miss me too much.
love, Scrappy Chick

You are not alone in whatever you feel for Lion Brand patterns, and Lion Brand Homespun. I have a hatred for them both. Ugh.

Have a great vacation! I hope your batteries get recharged enough to take on the school year!

Enjoy your vacation and remember, if you do end up abducted by aliens and locked in a closet on an exotic island; those twisty straws make good lock picks.
