Finished... sort of

I knew going into working on this room that I wouldn't be able to actually finish it. Paint and labor are cheap, new furniture and storage items are not. I moved some things into my room that will stay there, and some things are just in there temporarily. The walls are bare, but at least I have curtains. My mom made the curtains for our apartment in Manchester and I think they work out nicely with the new paint scheme. I moved the Papasan chair I bought for out in the front room in here temporarily so we could put the tree up in the other room... but I have to tell you. I REALLY love it in here in the corner. Perfect for cozying up with some knitting if you ask me.

I won this dresser at an auction a few years back, and up until now it's been living in the playroom holding my art supplies, rubber stamps, some project kits and scrapbook pages that don't have an album yet. It now resides in my craft room holding yarn. Ideally, I'd like to not have more yarn than I can fit inside this dresser. I love the idea of having a large "stash of yarn" to pull from.. but I also think that people often get carried away in this regard, so I try to buy yarn as I need it for projects instead. The dresser is beveled, and it only cost me $10, so I had The Boy screw two blocks of wood onto the top so that I could attach my ball winder and swift. I love that I don't have to set them up in the kitchen anymore.

In the left corner is my art easel. The Boy bought it for me several Christmas's ago, and I have kept it folded up in it's carry bag when not in use, but now I can keep it set up all the time. I seriously love my easel and want to make more time to paint, which I think I will do, especially in the summer, if I can leave my easel set up. The white drawers are temporarily holding my art supplies. I am toying with getting this storage bench from Ikea, but I'm not sold on it being black yet. They have it in antique stain also but I think it might be too light. I like that it's low, and long and I can store stuff on it and sit on it. For a hundred more dollars, I can get this one which is a bit shorter in length (20" actually, so it might work out better), a little deeper and still lower than the windows and looks a little nicer. I might be OK with white. I'll have to think on that.

I moved the desk that was in the front room housing my computer/office stuff out and put it in the corner with my sewing machine and sewing stuff on it. I love it much better in here than I ever did out there and I believe it was a good move. The playroom is going to become a shared office and so I'm not going to need it for my computer anymore. My sewing machine previously lived on an old desk my brothers in-laws gave us up in my bedroom. My bedroom is very dark and not very good for sewing. This room has lots of great natural light, and very good lighting so I feel pretty good about my choice.

This lonely corner is going to hold my scrapbooking and stamping stuff. I hope to put some kind of counter and cabinets in this area someday, I just have to figure out what I want it to look like. My back is cranky and I can't sit when I scrap, so right now I use an old counter that was left behind in what we use as the kids playroom, and I love the height. Again, this requires funding that I don't have at the moment, so even though you can't see it in the picture a large tub of yarn for the After School Knitting Club I'm starting up in January is currently living in that corner.

Yay!!! It looks great so far! That chair sure does look excellent for knitting! And I love your ball-winder/swift set up. What are your plans for knitting club? Mine was a big hit! I miss those girls!

Now having seen it in person, I'm so very jealous!!! My space for similar projects (minus the painting easel) is less than half this size. But that's ok, I'll just have to adjust my expectations and storage. I love the colors you chose and the curtains do match wonderfully.
