In Which We Find A New Journey.....

If I had to tell you off the cuff what my favorite dessert was, I'd be hard pressed to come up with an answer. I like lots of desserts, but don't really have what I'd consider a favorite. The Boy on the other hand.. his favorite dessert is cheesecake. Not any particular type mind you.. just cheesecake. We once went away to the mountains on vacation, and he ate an entire store bought cheesecake minus once slice. Half for dessert one night, the other half for breakfast. It was one of those small ones, but still.

In the 11 and a half years that we have been married.. plus the year and a half we lived together before we were married.. I have never made him cheesecake. Not one time. It's really a rather sorry reason why too. Carly sent me the most fabu recipe for NY cheesecake about 7 years ago. I look at it at least 3 times a year. And the reason I've never made it? I didn't have a spring form pan.

It's the most pathetic reason.. but it's the truth. The pan isn't one of those things I ever think of to buy when I'm out shopping. I was out at Target this morning and I picked up a set of 3 for $9.99. Not. Even. Expensive. I just had a mental block about it. So tonight, we made a Kahlua Cheesecake. You can find the recipe here. There's some things I didn't know about making cheesecake until I just did a search to find out when to take the pan off. Like you should put parchment on the bottom of the pan before the crust. Or that you should put a glass dish with water in the oven on the bottom rack to steam the cheesecake while it cooks. I will try these things the next time. Because for all the goodness that cheesecake is.. it wasn't really that hard to make. Who knew?

Good for you for trying something new! I own a springform pan but have not yet put it to use, also because of some silly mental block.

Cheeeeeesecake! Yum. Johnny V loves my cheesecake. (Now that I think of it his birthday is in a month or 2.)

I use foil on the bottom, then rub room temperature butter all over the inside of the pan, even though it's nonstick.

I never put water in the oven. So, my cheesecake cracks, but I cna live with that.

how funny your hubby sounds like mine, only difference being my hubby likes his plain. But her can eat one of those little cheese cakes the same way your hubby did. I mean I really like cheese cake, but I don't think I could eat that much in such a short span of time, lol.

Ok....this is too funny. I started this diet thing again to get back to my girlish figure.....and all last week I was very vocal about my cravings for a cheesecake! No frills...just plain which in my opinion is the only way to go. Now I see this....I believe a higher power is pointing me in a specific direction. =)
