Spring has Finally Arrived

Even though the calender reads spring in April, it never really feels like spring until the lilacs bloom. Today I walked home and realized that the day has finally come. I love lilacs, and wish that they stuck around longer than they do. The previous owner hated lilacs (his wife loved them) and he didn't take care of them. We have lilacs next to our barn that are as high as the bottom of the roof! Tomorrow after school I will go out and clip some for the kitchen. Seems like the lilacs bloom each year in time for my birthday (which is next week)

Next to the lilacs, I love the delicate flowers of the wild strawberries that grow all over the yard. I kid The Boy all the time about how if we used weed killer we'd have no yard left. The birds love the small, tart berries and I wouldn't dream of being rid of them.

On a side note, I spent last night with a rowdy group of 6th grade girls, on a hard uncomfortable bunk at environmental camp. To say I was tired would be a giant understatement. Goodnight, I'm going to bed.

I love your lilacs. I grew up in New England and really miss them. Thanks for the pic. I can almost smell them.
