Bust a Move

So my daughter decided she wanted Twister Moves for her birthday. No one else seemed to think that was a good idea, and she didn't receive it. Secretly I was relieved, as I had looked at it the day I bought her guitar and thought, omg, I will have to do this with her.

FFWD to yesterday. Miss Thang got a hefty chunk of cash for her birthday that has been burning a hole in her wallet for 3 weeks. We had declared it a day of rest, and figured why not take her out shopping to spend her money.

My daughter is the most frustrating person on the planet to shop with. She slowly walks each aisle. She sees things she wants and says, "Oh, I want that." So I ask her, do you want me to put it in the cart, and she shakes her head and moves on. Meanwhile my son and DH have moved on to explore the electronics as they have no use for girly items. So we proceed down each aisle, with mom nodding or shaking her head at items of intent. Until we get to the last aisle. And then we turn around and go back.

And in her head she's thinking of all the things she wants. And she'll ask me, "What aisle was ________ in?" And from the depths of my old tired brain I have to try and remember. And then we have the "How much money will I have left if I buy this?" question. And she picks and chooses and priorities.

And after all this... she remembers Twister Moves. And realizes that she doesn't care if it costs $20 and she has to put a few items back. She still got a pretty good haul, and her coveted game.

She conned her brother and I into playing with her this morning. First thing I realized that once you pass 30 your coordination isn't what it used to be (assuming you had some to start with, which I didn't). The next thing I realized is that maybe we shouldn't play this game on the second floor of our old house that shakes and rattles. Was it fun? I'm not so sure. It was defiantly funny. It's hard to bust a move when you are laughing at yourself so hard your sides hurt. But she's happy. And isn't that all that matters in the end?

Hey at least she had fun with it. And at least you laughed while doing it. That's important. :)
