A Book A Day....

Some years ago I read about a woman who had acquired Christmas books, and each night during December her family would read one together.

Not being one to pass by shameless stealing of others great ideas.. I adopted this tradition with our family. I keep the books in a basket that normally holds unread magazines, and each night we take turns reading a book until Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve The Boy reads "The Night Before Christmas" and so ends our month of stories.

So far this month we have read "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "Snowmen at Night". We don't have 25 books yet (only 16, I buy 2 or 3 new ones each year) so we start on whatever night will bring us to Christmas Eve.

We're doing this for the first time this year. I have every intention of reading every night but usually by bed time I'm pissed off, or it's too late, or we're all too tired or the baby's crying or something else that spoils it. Still, I love the idea and the nights when we do get to do it.
