We Now Return To Our Regularly Scheduled Blogging

I would like to thank you all for your prayers and support. It has meant a lot to me these past few crazy weeks. Somehow we ended up on Wednesday, so it the spirit of the blog.. let's have some randomness.

1. See those DVDs? My dad called me up one day last week. The conversation was as follows:
D: I'm at the UPS store mailing you a package.
B: Umm, you already gave me my Christmas gift.

D: I know. Someone was complaining that they wanted to get some new DVD's and didn't have enough room for them. So I told her there's only so many times you can watch a movie over and over, and why doesn't she get rid of some to make room.
B: OK, I'm trying to follow this, but dad I'm really tired and distracted today.
D: You have about 30 DVD's that will be showing up at your house sometime next week. Enjoy!
B: (!)

*note: somehow, in 33 DVD's and 2 cassettes, we didn't get a single movie we already had.

2. I already walk (I try to get out every day), so I decided I'd join in on Rachel's campaign to walk 100 miles by April Fools Day. My usual after school (when the weather warms after dinner) walk is 1.25 miles.. sometimes as long as 1.5 miles. I did the hated maths, and determined that I can feasibly make 100 miles by April 4th without changing a thing. Woot! You can walk, run, bike, crawl, or fly.. but if you want to check it out or join us.. click here.

3. I've been knitting on a new pair of socks. The pattern was one Interweave published last year, and basically it's 2x2 ribbing. The great thing about 2x2 ribbing is that it's easy enough that you don't have to think too much about it, and interesting enough to keep you from being bored. I'm using a cool yarn that Knitpicks no longer makes.. Sock Memories in the colorway "Flower Power." It's a 100% merino wool that feels fabulous on my dry, cracked hands. You can see a photo of it here in this post from last year. It's the great red/green/orange stuff in the lower right corner. Reminds me of fall, and it's not striping so it keeps me guessing as to what it's going to look like next. One day soon I'll snap a photo of the sock in progress and share it here.
