80,000 people can't be wrong... or can they? Each year the city of Keene hosts a fabulous fall festival. It started out as a harvest festival many years ago. It has evolved into a huge Pumpkin Festival that draws people from all over the country. I can't tell you how many state plates I saw on my way to do errands on Saturday. 80,000 people is 4 times the population of Keene. All crowded into the downtown area. There's a reason why we stopped going. Can you guess what it is?
We normally go on Friday nights now. It's a low scale community event (even that's getting big).. a chance to see the pumpkins before the crowds. This year Mr. Man was sick, and it rained and we skipped it. You'd think with 80,000 people, we'd beat our own world record of 28,000 pumpkins? No sir. 24,xxx was the count, and Boston's Life is Good Festival broke our record and logged 30,000. Now for a big city Boston.. you could've done better! This is only their second year doing this, but they raise money for sick kids to go to camp.. so rock on Life is Good! I love Boston. I used to go to free concerts every year and miss it. They don't hold those concerts on the City Hall Plaza anymore. Those got too big and they moved to the football stadium and started charging too much money for tickets.
