You Can't Always Get What You Want

I like to think that I'm a pretty easy going person. I don't ask for a lot. A little help. A little love. A little appreciation. I may get a little crazy at times, but mostly I'm just trying to get through the day, same as everyone else.

What I'd really like, is to be able to go to work, do my job and come home. And know that tomorrow when I get there, it's pretty much going to be the same as today, with reasonable changes. It's the unreasonable ones that are kicking my a$ this year. Next year what I'm aiming for, is to start out the year doing one thing and end the year doing the same thing. I don't think that's an unreasonable expectation. I don't think most people (not the sane ones anyhow) would be OK with a job description that seems to change as people see fit.

Seems that isn't going to happen this year. The boy says it's because I'm too good at what I do. An overachiever he calls it. When you stand out, people notice and then they take advantage of you. Well IMO that is a bit of a sour attitude..but I'm secretly beginning to think he's right!!!

So I leave you with a photo I took this morning of a gorgeous blue sky as the sun was coming up behind fresh snow covered trees. The blue was deeper in person than the photo shows. But you get the idea. So did the Stones...
"No, you can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
And if you try sometime you find
You get what you need"

i love the quote at the bottom. and i wish you could have a year doing what you love, and being treated right. i agree with the boy...you are simply too good at what you do. on the positive side...being in my shoes, i see that at least you do have a job. not very positive, i'm sure, if your name is beth, but doesn't seem too shabby if your name is abby. ha. i'm a poet and don't know it.
